Solomons Airlines Flight Links Brisbane to Santo to Honiara
On 12 November Solomonons Airlines began a new twice-weekly flight from Brisbane directly to Pekoa International Airport in Santo. This is the first major airline to fly directly from Australia to Santo and opens up Vanuatu's "Island of Adventure" for international tourism.

The UK based "New Economics Foundation" has completed a study on The Happy Planet Index; an innovative new measure that shows the ecological efficiency with which human well-being is delivered around the world.
It is the first ever index to combine environmental impact with well-being to measure the environmental efficiency with which country by country, people live long and happy lives.
Of 178 countries around the world, Vanuatu rated #1 as the Happiest Place on Earth. To compare the ratings for different countries, click here.
As a resident here in Vanuatu - I have to agree. If you come and visit you will soon discover that the index, crazy as it sounds, is probably correct.

From the VTO July newsletter
The Vanuatu Tourism Office won Two Air Pacific Tabua Awards at the Bula Tourism Exchange in Nadi. The Awards were received by the General Manager of the VTO, Mrs. Linda Kalpoi from the CEO of Air Pacific, with the presence of the Hon. Prime Minister of Fiji and 600 industry delegates from the Pacific, Europe, USA, Japan, China, Australia and NewZealand. Mrs. Kalpoi reported that this is the first time for the VTO to have entered the competition along with the rest of the Pacific Islands.
The Awards were for the best CD ROM (the Rocket Guide to Vanuatu) and DVD and the best Sales Kit for Wholesalers and Travel Agents under the theme "Think South Pacific, Think Vanuatu"
Mrs. Kalpoi went on to say that it is very exciting to receive these awards during the Year of Tourism. Vanuatu was represented at BFTE by 8 Senior Executives from VTO, Air Vanuatu, Le Lagon Vanuatu Resort, Le Meridien, Iririki Island Resort, Evergreen Tours and Destination Pacific, Vanuatu.
The Tourism Exchange was very successful with increase number of wholesalers from Europe, USA and China adding Vanuatu to their Tour Programs to the South Pacific.
